Guide: How to Customize Chrome Browser on Windows and Mac
If Google Chrome is your default browser on the computer, you may get bored with how it looks and behaves over time. To change that, you can change your Chrome. You can apply themes to change the tab color, change the new tab page, or change the cursor. Let’s look in detail how to customize Chrome on PC. By customizing Chrome, you can personalize it to your taste. Not everyone likes Chrome’s default white look – not a fan of dark mode either. 1. Use themes
Previously, we resorted to Chrome extensions to change the theme. But Google launched 14 themes for Chrome in January. Now you just need to go to the Chrome settings and apply a theme of your choice. Here are the steps in detail: Step 1: Launch Chrome on your PC. Click the three-dot icon at the top and select Settings. Step 2: Scroll down and click on Themes under Appearance. You will be taken to the Chrome Web Store.
Step 3: Select a theme you like. Then on the next screen, click on Add to Chrome.

2. Change Home Page
Is there a web page that you would like to visit often with just one click? You can do that using the home button in Chrome. You have to button and then add a web page to be opened by clicking it home buttonThe button is available in the top left corner, just next to the URL box. Here are the steps to it home button Step 1: Go to Chrome settings from the three-dot icon at the top.
Step 2: Scroll down and just below the themes you will find Show home buttonTurn on the switch next to it. You get two options for it. You can set it to open the New Tab page (you can also customize that as shown below) or add a custom web page. Select the option you want to use.
Step 3: Click on the home button from any tab when you want to access that page. Note: The website will open in the same tab you click on home button
3. Change the home page
Every time you start Chrome, you can set it to open multiple websites of your choice. For example, you can have your work-related websites launch in Chrome when you start your day. Follow these steps to change the homepage: Step 1: Open Chrome Settings on your PC. Step 2: Scroll down and you will find the On startup section. You are given multiple options such as opening a new tab page, opening specific pages, or opening pages that were last opened. Select the option of your choice.

4. Customize the New Tab page
Whenever you open a new tab in Chrome, you’ll see Google Search along with a few shortcuts to websites. You can customize the shortcuts on this page, change the background to an image of your choice, or set it to a solid color. Let’s check how to do it.
Add your own picture as a Chrome background
Open a new tab to add your image as the background for the new tab page. Click the Customize icon at the bottom.
A new window will open where you can choose one from the available wallpapers or upload a new one. To add your image, click Upload from device. Then choose the image of your choice and click Done.
Change or disable shortcuts
To change the shortcuts available on the New Tab page, click Customize button at the bottom of the new tab page. Then click Shortcuts. You will be presented with two options: My Shortcuts and Most Visited Sites. In the former, you have to set the shortcuts manually and Chrome will automatically generate shortcuts in the latter, depending on the frequency of their use. If you don’t want to see shortcuts, turn on the switch next to Hide shortcuts.
Change the color of Chrome
To set the background of the New Tab page to a solid color, click Color and Theme in the Customization Options for the New Tab. The color you choose will be applied as the background color, and you will also see it change the title bar color as well as the tabs. 5. Change the New Tab page
Google offers limited options to customize the New Tab page. But thanks to Chrome extensions, you can change it in several ways. The new tab page extensions allow you to change the behavior of what happens when you open a new tab. 6. Change the font style
Many people like to change the default fonts on their Android phonesIf you’d like to do the same in Chrome, you won’t be disappointed. To change the font in Chrome, go to Chrome Settings. Then go to the Appearance section. Here you can adjust the font size and fonts. Click on it to change it.
7. Change the cursor in Chrome

8. Use different profiles
