The Eufy Video Doorbell Dual is a bit larger than it looks on the website: The doorbell is just under five and a half inches tall and two inches wide, making it look more like an old-school intercom than the slim doorbells from manufacturers like Ring and Nest. That’s probably because of the battery inside that keeps the device running: Eufy claims a battery life of six months. It does look a bit intimidating, though; with the large lens of the main camera staring at you, it looks more like a security checkpoint. At the bottom of the doorbell is the second, smaller, downward-facing camera and a couple of white LEDs that light up when motion is detected. Among the best video doorbells, this two-camera approach isn’t unique – the Maximus Answer Dual Cam offers the same basic design – but it is rare. Unlike most other video doorbells that connect directly to your Wi-Fi, the Eufy Video Doorbell Dual needs to be connected to the Eufy Homebase, which connects to your wired home network so you can view video from the doorbell remotely. However, the Homebase has two other functions: It stores all the videos of the doorbell and has a ringtone that sounds when the doorbell button is pressed. What makes this video doorbell special is that it has two cameras that it uses wisely, with the main camera looking directly outside and the second one looking at the ground. The doorbell combines these two cameras into a video feed that shows pretty much everything that is happening outside. The main camera has a horizontal field of view of 160 degrees, while the package camera captures just shy of a hundred degrees. When these two cameras are combined, it is unlikely that anything will happen outside of the cameras’ field of view. The video it sends is so clear and sharp that people can be recognized whether it’s day or night, thanks to the two LED lights at the base that illuminate the immediate area around the camera.
