Perhaps the biggest loss is WiFi, which is totally inexplicable; what is the benefit of disabling WiFi (there is a WiFi chip on board, but it is permanently turned off)? Has the battery life been extended? The Fitbit Versa 4 has the same battery life as the previous model. At the same time, it has lost the smartphone’s fast connection. Even worse, support for third-party apps is gone. These are sad times indeed. The Fitbit Versa 4 looks almost identical to the Versa 3, except for the physical buttons that replace the capacitive buttons of its predecessor. It has a lightweight body made of aluminum (bezel) and polycarbonate (caseback), a modestly sized AMOLED screen, and a silicone Infinity Loop band. Statistics such as display resolution/size and lens material are sadly not available on the website; the Fitbit Versa 4 is water resistant to 50 meters (5 ATM). The Fitbit Versa 4 experience relies heavily on fitness tracking, which we found to be both an asset and a drawback. On the one hand, with a Fitbit Premium membership, the Versa 4 offers thorough sleep tracking, a Daily Readiness Score to measure recovery, meditation guidance, and motivational community challenges. It also supports 40 different workouts, tracks workouts automatically, and calculates steps very well. However, this may not matter much if you are not so keen on checking your heart rate. However, it is still annoying to not earn Active Zone Minutes when you know you are making an effort, and Active Zone Minutes is a system that encourages exercise with a goal of 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week, as recommended by Fitbit I’m usually a fan of this feature. I am usually a fan of this feature, but not so with the Versa 4.
