How to After uploading, add text to YouTube videos
Step 1: Once you log in to YouTube Studio, select the video you want to add text to and click Subtitles in the left menu.
If this is your first time adding a subtitle file, the studio interface will prompt you for the language. In our case, we chose to go with English. Step 2: After adding the language, you will see a narrow panel at the top. Click on the three dots button under Subtitles, as shown in the screenshot below, and select Edit.
You will be immediately taken to the editing screen. Now add the subtitle. If you want to add a few words, drag the search bar to the time of your choice and add the text in the given text box.
After that, click on the small Plus icon. Do the same for the rest of the video. When done, you will see the text added by the specified time frame. Pro Tip: Press Shift + Enter to add a new line to the text. Step 3: After adding the added text and checking it again, click Publish button in the upper right corner.
The text will be published on the respective video. Now check the text in the video.
After that, whenever you open the subtitle editor in YouTube Studio, the added text will always be visible to you, along with the timestamp. Note: Users can only see the added text if they have enabled subtitles / CC on their end.
Problems with subtitles
The problem with YouTube Studio is that the speech recognition engine automatically creates a series of empty blocks with no text. And when that happens, your viewers will see black blocks on your YouTube videos. I’m sure you don’t want this to happen.
So if you see something like this on any of your videos, it can be fixed. Step 1: Open that video’s subtitle editor and select Actions> Download and select .SRT from the list. Open the file with a text editor such as Notepad or Notepad ++.
You will now see that all text in the subtitle is timestamped.
All you need to do is delete the blanks and save the file.
Step 2: Now go to the Edit window in YouTube Studio and click Edit buttonfollowed by Overwrite. Then click Actions> Upload File and upload the files you just edited. And that’s it.
After you publish the changes, all empty boxes are removed from the videos and only the text you want to display is displayed. Yes, you can thank me later. You can also use the user interface buttons to remove the blank texts, if there are not many. To do this, click on the cross next to each text.
And when everything is done, click on Return to YouTube Studio button in the upper right corner.
