If you’ve seen or used a previous Corsair Virtuoso gaming headset, this new model will look instantly familiar. The Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT is almost identical to the SE and regular Virtuoso models, although it’s now a slightly darker slate gray. That’s not a bad thing, though – as with the older models, this is a well-made gaming headset. The XT is made almost entirely of metal, with an aluminum headband and headphones that feature leatherette-wrapped memory foam pads. While all that metal makes the headset feel very sturdy, it’s also quite heavy. The weight does provide some degree of security as the headband is fairly loose, but if you’re prone to fatigue, you’ll likely experience that here as well. The headphone hinges offer a good range of tilt and lay flat in either direction, making sealing very easy, though the ear cushions themselves are definitely a bit flat. Aside from the volume control, you’ll need to use Corsair’s companion app, iCue, to make more precise adjustments. Version 4 of the app was just released in the spring of 2021 with a simpler user interface and offers a number of additional features for the Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT. With iCue, you can change the EQ profile of the headset by either choosing from presets or making your own adjustments with the built-in 10-band equalizer. There is a slider for adjusting the microphone monitoring. You can also adjust the color and brightness of the LED Corsair logo on the sides of the headset. The device settings menu also lets you set when to activate the headset’s sleep mode. The app allows you to update the firmware of both the headset and the USB dongle. Beyond that, the only other feature for the dongle is a software switching option for 2.4 GHz multipoint that allows multiple devices using Corsair’s Slipstream 2.4 GHz wireless connection to use the same USB dongle.
